Powdercoating

When we receive your parts for powder coating, they go through a multi-step preparation to ensure a quality finish.

Depending on the condition of the parts, all items are properly cleaned and degreased before any stripping or blasting begins.

If a part already has an existing coating, it is chemically stripped prior to further processing. Several factors are taken into consideration during this step, including the material type and overall size of the part.

After stripping, parts are thoroughly washed to remove any remaining chemicals and then pre-baked in our oven. Depending on the material, parts may go through an outgassing process to release any trapped gases, helping prevent surface defects and ensuring a smooth, consistent finish.

Once pre-baking is complete, parts are sandblasted to create the proper surface profile needed for optimal powder adhesion.

After all preparation steps are completed, the parts are coated with the powder material, color, and finish of your choosing, then cured to completion for a long-lasting finish.

Why Powder Coating is Widely Used Across Industries

When powdercoat is properly applied to a prepared surface, it is far more resistant to chipping, cracking, or scratching than a traditional liquid paint.

Powder coating is applied as a dry powder and cured under heat, forming a thicker, more uniform coating. This allows it to better absorb impacts, resist chipping from handling and vibration, and accommodate movement on components like coil and leaf springs.

Powder coating also allows for a broad range of colors and finishes, giving manufacturers and customers flexibility in both appearance and function. Different formulas can be selected based on the environment in which the part will be used, such as indoor, outdoor, or high-temperature settings.

Because the coating is applied as a dry powder, there is minimal material waste, and the process does not rely on liquid solvents. This makes powder coating a practical option for high-volume production as well as custom and small-batch work.

For these reasons, powder coating is commonly used in industries such as automotive, manufacturing, construction, agriculture, and consumer products.

Ceramic coating

Any parts that receive a ceramic coating typically follow a very similar multi-step preparation to achieve the same finish quality as our powder coating.

We primarily use CERAKOTE® as our ceramic coating manufacturer, as they are a leader in innovation across a wide range of ceramic coating applications.

Unlike powder coating, ceramic coating is applied as a liquid. With a film thickness of just 0.00075–0.001″ (0.75–1 mil), ceramic coatings can be used on tighter-tolerance components where powder coating may not be suitable, such as tight-tolerance inner bores or closely fitted parts. Most threads can also be coated while remaining fully functional.

We offer ceramic coating formulas designed to withstand temperatures exceeding 2000°F while retaining their original color. These coatings are well suited for exhaust components and other high-temperature applications.

Other ceramic coatings are formulated for high-friction applications, creating a dry-lubricant layer that both protects the surface and allows smooth operation between sliding components

Sandblasting

Sandblasting is one of the most efficient ways to remove rust and surface contaminants. When parts are sandblasted, careful consideration is given to the appropriate media and air pressure for each component to ensure effective cleaning without damaging the underlying surface. This surface texture helps coatings bond mechanically to the part, ensuring even coverage and reducing the risk of peeling or flaking over time.

Sandblasting creates a consistent surface profile that promotes proper adhesion for both powder coating and ceramic coating applications.

Sandblasting can also expose surface defects, cracks, or weak spots that may need attention before coating, helping prevent issues after finishing. It can be performed as a standalone service or as part of our coating process, giving flexibility depending on the needs of your project.
